John, we can close your account if you want to, but I suggest that you spend some time here before giving up. For example, in order for me as a moderator to consider your post about 60% of American supporting single payer, I would like to see a link to at least one opinion poll finding what you claim.

I found a clear explanation why Americans never will accept single-payer health care system: www.nationalreview.com/article/449745/si...ont-happen-thank-fdr . The author acknowledges that there is some support for this concept, but concludes that Americans will never accept the huge tax increases needed to implement it. Also, Americans will not accept unavoidable restriction in access to the quality of health care. I agree with this reasoning presented by the author Mr. Max Bloom, and I challenge supporters of single-payer concept to counter the arguments presented in the linked article.

I decide this challenge as true. We had one voice against it, based on the argument that government can create money out of thin air. This does not sound convincing. In order to build on this reasoning, I encourage John G. to post a challenge explaining his understanding how government gets funded.

Well, if you don't have the courtesy to read my statement I can't be bothered with you. Your view of federal government finance is irrational and absurd.

The Federal government is the issuer of the $US. It spends its own dollars into existence. Taxation can only be paid with and treasuries, what we misleadingly call 'national debt' can only be bought with these government dollars. So the government creates the $ that pay the taxes and buy the 'debt' aka savings.

How do you account for the consistent polling over at least a decade that shows that 60% or more of the electorate want single payer/Medicare for all.
Also your assertion that it would require 'massive tax increases' is far from certain. Government spending pays for itself in the limit. Taxation determines how quickly the $ are cancelled is all.

John did you read the article? Americans support the single payer option when they only hear about the benefits and not the cost of implementing it. Their opinion changes once they get the facts. I would like to see at least one polling that proves your point, without asking one-sided questions. Also, can you elaborate more on how government spending pays for itself. I would like to at least try to see it the way you do. Maybe you can convince me that I am faulty in my conclusion.

I gladly open the first challenge which refers to a publication presenting arguments for a given issue. If opponents of the thesis of this challenge know about any equally well written arguments for single-payer system, they are encouraged to post the links.
